Aon to acquire ABN Amro Dutch activities

Aon plc has announced that its Dutch subsidiary Aon Groep Nederland B.V. intends to buy the intermediary activities for commercial insurance from ABN AMRO Bank N.V.

The proposed acquisition, the financial terms of which have not been disclosed, involves ABN AMRO’s insurance activities for large commercial enterprises (and some activities related to SMEs).

Should the deal go ahead then 78 employees would move from ABN Amro to Aon Risk Consulting.

CEO ARS Benelux/Nordics and Country Manager of Aon Nederland Lex Geerdes said that the extra insurance services would be a perfect fit for the firm and would add to its capabilities, benefiting its clients.

Steve McGill, chairman and chief executive officer of Aon Risk Solutions, said that the acquisition would bring together a pair of premier organisations and reinforce Aon’s commitment to the Netherlands.
