RSA warns drivers of twilight zone danger

Global insurer RSA has advised motorists that taking extra care as British Summer Time commences is wise, as figures reveal a spike in collisions during twilight after the clocks change.

RSA UK & Western Europe Chief Executive Adrian Brown said that regular eye tests were as important as an MOT when it comes to driving safely, and advised drivers to have their eyes checked every few years.

Twilight is an especially difficult time for vision, as the eyes must continually adjust to rapidly fading light.

There is only a basic element of eyesight testing during a driving test, and 20% of British motorists have not had an eye examination in the last two years, the period recommended by the NHS for regular eye tests.

Unfortunately, twilight for motorists is not the only potential concern Britons face as the clocks change.

Aviva has recently warned homeowners to ensure their sheds and garages are secure, as break-ins surge by more than a quarter when the clocks change.
