Aviva Europe appoints chief risk officer

Aviva Europe has appointed Doug Brown as chief risk officer.

Moving from senior vice-president and global head of bancassurance at MetLife, Mr Brown will report to Aviva Europe chief executive, Igal Mayer, and join the division’s executive committee.

Mr Brown began his career at Great-West Life, joining MetLife in 2004 having previously held senior roles with AIG Life of Canada and Gilliland Gold Young Consulting.

Commenting on the appointment, Aviva plc chief risk officer, Robin Spencer, says: “Creating value from the risks we choose to take is central to Aviva’s continued success.”

Adding: “Doug’s leadership and broad commercial skills are perfectly suited to supporting the delivery of this agenda in a Solvency II world.”
