Aviva makes senior UK Life appointments

Aviva has announced changes to its UK leadership team in response to the departure of Toby Strauss, chief executive officer, UK Life, who is leaving to take up a new role with Lloyds Banking Group.

David Barral has been appointed as his replacement, reporting to Aviva’s UK chief executive officer, Mark Hodges.

He will also join the group’s UK board and executive team.

Mr Barral moves from chief operating officer, UK Life, and his previous responsibilities have been split between two new appointments to the UK Life executive team.

Phil Willcock, managing director of UK Health, becomes propositions director in addition to his current responsibilities.

Hugh Hessing will broaden his customer service responsibilities, becoming customer experience director.

Commenting on developments, Mr Hodges says: “These appointments demonstrate the bench strength we have in Aviva.”

Adding: “The UK Life business is in great shape with a clear strategy, which the new team will continue to drive forward.”
