Specialist insurer Hiscox has announced a brace of new appointments to bolster its UK Professions and Specialty Commercial (PSC) division.

Samantha Newman has been named as the head of Emerging Professional Indemnity and Charities and will be directly responsible to John Heaney, head of Professions and Specialty Commercial.

Newman, who is to be based in London, takes on responsibility for increasing the firm’s presence in non-traditional professions.

Previously she worked for firms including Procter & Gamble, Mars Confectionery, PepsiCo, and was most recently BBC Audiobooks’ sales director.

Ann Meaden joins the firm’s underwriting team in Bristol as senior development underwriter.

Meaden brings more than three decades of experience to her new position and will report directly to David Henderson, regional manager (South and Midlands).
