Chaucer launches International Liability Division

Chaucer’s new international liability division is open for business.

Mark Lawrence has joined Chaucer Syndicate 1084 to head up the unit, having moved from Argo International, where he was joint active underwriter of Syndicate 1200 and responsible for all casualty business.

Recruitment of the remainder of the team is complete and includes specialist class underwriters, Ian Noble (for professional indemnity) and Mark Aaron (for general liability).

Lloyd’s has approved the firm’s 2011 business plan, which will enable the team to write business up to a maximum line size of £15 million.

Mr Lawrence comments: “We have established an excellent team that is intent on developing a market leading account, through a dedication to underwriting and claims expertise, and the highest levels of service.”

Last month, Chaucer revealed details of a restructure aimed at fulfilling its vision of becoming a top-three dedicated Lloyd’s business, while building a UK motor direct brand with a strong aggregator presence.
