Jelf has entered into an affinity partnership with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Under the agreement, the broker will create a range of products exclusively available to IMechE’s 90,000 members and specifically tailored to the needs of those working in the industry.

According to Jelf, increasing health and safety legislation has made it critical for mechanical engineering firms to be adequately insured and the new offering will include professional indemnity, liability, directors’ and officers’ cover, as well as general commercial combined.

The broker’s partnerships director (Insurance), Andy Tedstone, comments: “We are confident we can make a valuable contribution to IMechE members. Our team is highly experienced and technically competent.”

IMechE commercial development manager, Alastair Barr, adds: “Jelf have a track record of working with a range of associations … because they understand the environment in which our members work, they are well placed to provide practical and meaningful advice.”

Last week, Jelf launched a new offering aimed at making insurance matters simpler for landlords and others in the property sector, who are also faced with increasing legislation and regulation.

Working with some of the UK’s leading insurers, the firm has developed an offering that caters for the landlord with a single property through to the managing agent with a large portfolio.
