Fortis (Insurance UK), which includes RIAS and Kwik-Fit Insurance Services, has begun the process of changing its name to Ageas.

The move reflects the group’s status as a standalone global insurance business, following last year’s sale of its banking operations.

The name change should be completed by the end of March 2011 and will be accompanied by the Ageas logo, which comprises free-drawn coloured circles around the name, and apparently expresses “a sense of energy and desire to get things done”.

Ageas UK chief executive officer, Barry Smith, comments: “It is important to stress that whilst our name has changed, our strategy and ethos of working in partnership with our brokers and partners to deliver great outcomes for customers remains the same.”

He adds: “I am confident that Ageas will quickly become an established brand within our market, reflecting our strong customer focus and our desire to work alongside and deliver to our clients.”

During the rebranding process, the company’s legal entities will change as follows:

Fortis UK will become Ageas UK; Fortis Insurance Limited will become Ageas Insurance Limited; Fortis Insurance Solutions will become Ageas Insurance Solutions; Fortis Life will change to Ageas in January 2011 and RIAS and Kwik-Fit Insurance Services will retain their brand names.
