Residents of Bournemouth are paying the lowest home insurance premiums, according to new research from moneysupermarket.com.

The price comparison website is making the point that home insurance premiums vary hugely according to postcode, as well as other risk factors.

An analysis of over two million home insurance quotes during a 12-month period revealed that homeowners in Bournemouth pay £60 less than the average premium of £164 per year.

London topped the list as the most expensive locality, with those who live in Stanmore in Harrow, Golders Green and Dulwich facing a hike of £122 on the typical UK premium.

Unsurprisingly, all ten of the most expensive post codes are in Greater London, whereas York, Glasgow, Tidworth in Wiltshire, Nottingham and Leicester follow Bournemouth with postcodes that have enviably low home insurance premiums.
