AXA appoints European CEO

AXA has appointed Jacques de Vaucleroy chief executive officer of its Northern, Central and Eastern Europe Region (NORCEE) operations.

Mr de Vaucleroy will take up the post on 15th March, replacing Alfred Bouckaert, who is retiring in April.

He will be responsible for the group’s operations in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland, as well as in Central and Eastern Europe, plus Axa Bank Europe.

The 49-year-old made most of his career within the ING Group, where as a member of the executive committee he gained extensive experience of the insurance, asset management and banking businesses, both in Europe and in the US.

AXA management board chairman, Henri de Castries, has welcomed Mr de Vaucleroy saying: “He brings a unique blend of experience, which is very relevant to our business mix and will contribute to the future development of the NORCEE region and to the Group.”

Earlier this week, AXA announced that it intends to delist from the New York Stock Exchange.

The move will focus trading of the insurer’s ordinary shares on AXA’s primary trading market, EuroNext Paris, which accounts for over 95% of worldwide trading volume.
