M&S Money is looking for a cat or dog with that indefinable ‘X-Factor’ to star in its pet insurance ad campaign.

The high street financial provider has set up a competition to find the celebrity pet they’re looking for.

Owners can write in with a photo and a few sentences about why their cat or dog is a star.

The winning pet will have to pose for a professional photo shoot, whilst it’s owner will come away with £100 in M&S gift vouchers.

Judith Roberts, M&S Insurance Manager, said: “This competition gives cat and dog lovers the chance to show the world why their pet is one in a million.”

The Guardian newspaper, however, believes that star pets deserve better pay to be pampered, just like human celebrities.

“Even if your pet wins, it won’t actually be paid for its high-profile television appearances,” The Guardian comments.

“Surely that’s not fair? Twiggy, Lily and Myleene get paid!”
