AA launches “value” caravan policy

AA Insurance has this month launched a new caravan insurance policy, aimed at UK tourers.

Caravan Essentials is a value policy that should be of interest to the average family with a caravan worth up to £10,000.

The Association’s head of caravan insurance, Karen Jakes, is expecting strong interest, explaining: “With the poor exchange rate, high price of fuel and the generally higher cost of living we believe many families are considering caravan destinations such as the Cotswolds or the Cairngorms this year, rather than say Carcassonne.”

The policy covers accidental damage and theft plus up to £2 million in public liability.

The minimum excess is £150 and extras, such as legal expenses or family cover, can be added for an additional premium.

The insurer says it can offer a flexible deal and should a policyholder upgrade their caravan and exceed the £10,000 maximum value, or need to take an extended European tour, they can be transfer to an AA Standard or Select policy.
