Specialist care and charity insurer Ecclesiastical has announced that it has formed a new charity partnership with Carers Trust.

The announcement coincides with the insurer’s 125th anniversary.

Ecclesiastical UK MD Steve Wood explained that the firm sought a charity partnership which supported the core of its business, and described carers as a central part of communities everywhere.

Ecclesiastical is putting £100,000 into funding the new partnership, which will be used for a 2012 Network Conference which will bring together, for the first time, all the Crossroads Care and Princess Royal Trust for Carers charities.

Furthermore, funding will be provided for research into the availability of support for those who care for dementia sufferers.

The insurer has also launched the Helping Hands volunteering programme, which will encourage its staff to participate in practical and professional volunteering.

A third of Ecclesiastical staff already volunteer, and the firm has announced it will provide every one of its 900 staff with a £125 grant to donate to a charity of their choice.
