Global insurance broker Willis Group Holdings has announced that Luigi Giancristofaro has been appointed chief executive officer of its reinsurance operations in Brazil (Willis Corretora de Resseguros Ltda).
Giancristofaro, who is to be based in Rio de Janeiro, will primarily have responsibility for the firm’s Brazilian wholesale business, and represent the Group’s Treaty division, Willis Re, as it seeks to expand its presence in Brazil.
He brings two decades of experience to his new position and will be directly responsible to the recently appointed Willis Latin America Reinsurance CEO Antonio Tosti.
For the last four years Giancristofaro has been an executive director, responsible for managing Willis Brazil’s Facultative book.
He succeeds Margo Black, who has left Willis to join Swiss Re, and will collaborate closely with Willis Re Latin American and Caribbean Treaty reinsurance business joint Managing Directors Sergio Montoya and Tony Phillips.
