Zurich has appointed Valerie Butt as head of sales, distribution & marketing for global corporate, effective 1st July 2012.

In her new role, Ms Butt will be responsible for the development and execution of global corporate sales and distribution strategies, as well as marketing efforts on a global basis.

Currently based in the US, the 44-year-old will be relocating to Zurich and will report directly to Thomas Hürlimann, chief executive officer, global corporate.

Ms Butt joined Zurich in 1997 as head of underwriting, western region with centre solutions in the USA.

Since then, she has held various management positions, most recently as head of customer relationship management for global corporate in North America.

In 2010, she was named one of a small number of “Women to Watch” by USA’s Business Insurance Magazine.
