Marsh Ltd has announced the appointment of Mark Weil as the firm’s new chief executive officer.

Weil, whose appointment is subject to regulatory approval, succeeds Martin South, who has been appointed chief executive officer of Marsh Europe.

In his new role Weil will supervise the firm’s operations in the UK & Ireland, and previously worked for sister company Oliver Wyman as EMEA Financial Services head.

He brings to the firm a decade and a half of experience in financial services with Oliver Wyman, where he not only led EMEA Financial Services but also the global retail banking practice.

South praised Weil, saying that Marsh was fortunate to be able to attract a leader of his calibre and experience.
