MetLife is expanding its group life protection product to include a bereavement and probate service.
The new free-of-charge offering will support employees and their families affected by loss via a 24-hour telephone helpline that provides legal and financial guidance including help with the complicated issues of probate, grants of representation and family disputes following bereavement.
MetLife says it is responding to needs identified from research with existing clients and that the move should also help strengthen client retention, while attracting new business.
The insurer’s employee benefits director, Stephanie Baillie, comments: “The MetLife Group Life policy is not just about paying claims but helping employers help their employees and their families at a time when one of the most traumatic events a family can experience occurs.”
