March has seen a surge in motorbike quotes following the start of British Summer Time, price comparison website Tiger.co.uk has reported.

From February to March motorbike insurance quotes rose by 40%.

March and April are traditionally busy months for motorbike insurance as bikers seek to take advantage of more daylight, better weather and Bank Holidays.

Tiger.co.uk has advised bikers to carry out a check of their bikes before heading out, and to be extra vigilant when riding.

Commercial Director Andrew Goulborn said that the site now has 37 insurance brands on its bike panel and has offered motorcyclists tips on its weekly blog.

In March RSA advised motorists to be especially careful during twilight hours after British Summer Time came into force, as collisions during this period increase substantially.

Given that bikers are more likely to be severely injured or killed in a crash than car drivers it is advice that they would also do well to follow.
