Bupa has announced the appointment of Stuart Fletcher as the firm’s new chief executive, after he joins Bupa on 1 March 2012.

Fletcher succeeds Ray King, whose retirement was announced earlier in 2011, and was previously president of Diageo International, where he worked for over a quarter of a century.

Lord Leitch, the chairman of Bupa, expressed his delight at the appointment of Fletcher, and praised his exceptional track record.

Lord Leitch went on to say that Fletcher was the right man to lead Bupa through its next phase, adding that he and the board were looking forward to working with him.

Fletcher himself has stated that he is thrilled to be joining Bupa at such an exciting time, and said that he looked forward to building upon the legacy left by King and his predecessors.
