Standard Life appoints Canada CEO

Standard Life has announced the appointment of Charles Guay as president and chief executive officer of Standard Life Canada.

He joins the firm from National Bank of Canada where he was senior vice president (Strategies, Marketing and Investment Solutions, Wealth Management), and president and chief executive officer of National Bank Securities.

In addition to this he has also worked for a range of other financial firms, including Fidelity Investments Canada, RBC Dominion Securities and Lévesque Beaubien Geoffrion.

Standard Life plc Chief Executive David Nish stated that Guay was an oustanding candidate for the Montréal-based position.

Guay succeeds Joseph Iannicelli, and will assume his new position with effect from 1 February 2012, with Iannicelli departing on 14 February 2012.

Nish warmly welcomed his appointment, adding that Standard Life had been impressed by Guay’s experience, enthusiasm and leadership.
