South West rural insurance firm Cornish Mutual has hired 14 new full-time members of staff, all of whom are to be based in Truro.

The new team members will work in member services, IT, accounts and operations and will be involved in providing the firm’s members with commercial and personal insurance products and services.

They will also collaborate closely with the 21 insurance inspectors based throughout the region.

Ria Murphy, Lisa Hitchens, Katie Harland, Rachel Donaldson, Megan Baker, Laura Wilkins and Jonathan Pollard all become member service advisers.

Mauricio Morgado and Martin Reynolds have been appointed as IT support technicians and Chris Langley becomes a software support and reporting analyst, following on from the investment of almost half a million pounds in new IT infrastructure the mutual announced earlier this month.

Vanessa King has been hired as an accounts assistant, Clare Martin as a business analyst and Nigel Meaby takes on operations support.

Carole Ham has been appointed to the post of front-of-house administrator.

Sharon Plowright, head of operations for Cornish Mutual, described the fourteen new roles as important for the firm’s future strategic growth.
