Howden Broking Group has completed the acquisition of Singapore’s Accette Insurance Group, South East Asia’s largest independent insurance broker.

The firm has taken over the insurance operations of Accette in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Regulatory approval is required for the pending Indonesian acquisition to go ahead.

The addition of Accette’s offices to Howden’s means that the firm now operates from 14 offices in eight countries across Asia.

David Howden, Chief Executive of Hyperion Insurance Group Limited (of which Howden is a subsidiary), stated that the firm’s expansion in emerging markets was a major aspect of its strategic approach to growth.

David Howden added that the acquisition was an important step for the firm’s ambition of becoming a leading insurance broker in the Asia Pacific region.
