Guy Carpenter bolsters Asia Pacific presence
Global risk and reinsurance specialist Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC has announced a number of senior appointments to enhance its risk management capabilities in the Asia Pacific region.
Christian Schirmer has been appointed head of GC Analytics® – Asia Pacific, and is to be based in Sydney.
Schirmer brings extensive experience to his new position, having worked in the (re)insurance sector for 18 years for firms such as McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company and Beazley Insurance.
Guy Carpenter has also announced the appointment of three senior brokers to its Singapore office, with effect from January 2012.
Lucinda Coleman joins global facultative unit GC Fac®, and previously worked for JLT Re Asia as a broker/producer in Singapore.
The Multinational and Retrocessional practice is to be led by Brendan Plessis, and Richard Hakes will lead the Marine and Energy practice.
Guy Carpenter has also recently revealed that an unprecedented two-thirds of insured catastrophe losses worldwide were accounted for by the Asia-Pacific region in the first nine months of the year.
The recent surge in catastrophes in the region is likely to further the already rising demand for catastrophe reinsurance.
