Howden Insurance Brokers has been appointed preferred supplier of insurance services to the English Community Care Association (ECCA).

The Association is the largest representative body for community care in England and according to chief executive, Martin Green, Howden has been appointed because it knows the care home business inside out.

Commenting on the win, the broker’s senior practitioner for the sector, Joy Howson, says: “The changing regulatory landscape of the care provider sector means that care home owners have a huge amount to keep up with alongside the day-to-day management of their businesses.”

She adds: “By taking a long-term approach to the sector we will work with ECCA, its members and insurers to help develop a continuously evolving culture of risk management and to develop responsive products at competitive prices.”

In other Howden news, the firm has recently established a wholesale and retail operation in Bermuda, saying the move will allow better service delivery to wholesale clients in North America as it takes another step in its strategic approach towards growth.
