Beazley has been chosen by UHC to be the firm’s preferred cyber liability insurer for its 114 academic medical centres and 255 affiliate hospitals.

UHC is to offer the insurer’s flagship product Beazley Breach Response, a comprehensive privacy breach response management and information security insurance solution.

The product is tailored to cater to the precise needs of healthcare organisations, in addition to education, retail, and hospitality businesses.

Paul Bantick, a senior Lloyd’s underwriter for Beazley’s Technology, Media and Business Services team, explained that digitisation of patient records greatly enhanced hospital efficiency but does increase the dangers of data breaches.

Hospitals can suffer serious reputational damage should a data breach occur and be handled inappropriately.

Jake Groenewold, UHC senior vice president, Supply Chain, said that he was pleased with the new arrangement that provided the firm’s members with new cyber liability protection from a global leader in healthcare risk management.
