Zurich Financial Services Group has announced the appointment of Pierre Wauthier to the position of chief financial officer, effective from 1 October.

For the last four years he has served the firm as group treasurer, and last year took on the role of head of Centrally Managed Businesses.

Wauthier is a veteran of Zurich, having worked for the firm for a decade and a half, prior to which he worked for J.P. Morgan in London and Paris.

Wauthier, who also assumes a seat on the Group Executive Committee, will be directly responsible to Chief Executive Officer Martin Senn and succeeds Dieter Wemmer.

Senn expressed his delight at Wauthier’s Zurich-based appointment, praising his deep understanding of the firm’s strategy and culture.

Zurich has also announced that Chief Risk Officer Axel P. Lehmann is to take on the additional duties of regional chairman of Europe, succeeding Wemmer.
