Peter Taylor has been appointed as the new lay chairman of the Chartered Insurance Institute’s (CII) Disciplinary Committee.
Mr Taylor is currently a consultant at Hogan Lovells International LLP where he was previously a partner from 1993 to 2010.
In his new role, he will chair meetings of the Disciplinary Committee and hearings of the Disciplinary Panel.
Commenting on the appointment, the Institute’s head of legal and secretariat, Rowan Paterson, says: “Peter not only brings the obvious benefits of his extensive legal training and experience but also his insight into our disciplinary procedures, as he has already acted as a lay member of our Appeal Committee.”
Last month, the CII elected Julian James as its 115th president.
Mr James, who is chief executive officer of Lockton Companies International, has taken over from Chris Hanks, general manager of Allianz UK.
