CII elects new president
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has elected Julian James as its 115th president.
Mr James, who is chief executive officer of Lockton Companies International, takes over from Chris Hanks, general manager of Allianz UK.
Amanda Blanc, chief executive of AXA Commercial, has been elected deputy-president.
Incoming CII presidents choose a theme for their year in office and Mr James has decided on “The Next Generation of Talent”.
He explains: “This is very much in keeping with the excellent work that is already underway in this area, including the CII’s Discover Risk initiative which has made great progress in kindling an interest in our sector among students.”
Adding: “Attracting the best talent to our sector is vital to ensuring the future growth of our profession.”
Earlier this month, the CII appointed Graeme Sutton as director of corporate development.
Mr Sutton joins in August from M4 Underwriting, having previously held senior roles at Fusion, Zurich and Independent Insurance.
