Chartis launches environmental liability training
Chartis Insurance UK has launched online training in environmental exposures for brokers, accredited by the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Five modules are available to help firms navigate their clients through the complexities of this relatively new market, while staff gain professional credits
According to Chartis, environmental insurance is a rapidly growing sector which is under-served and the new training material is the latest step in its efforts to share knowledge and experience with the market.
The insurer’s manager for environmental impairment liabilities, Anna Nilsson, comments: “Many companies are unaware of the potentially huge environmental exposures they face and are unclear about whether their existing general liability policy covers these risks.”
She adds: “Many believe erroneously that these are issues arising primarily from sudden and catastrophic accidents, and only affect the high-risk industry sectors such as utilities companies or chemical manufacturers.”
