DUAL appoints IT PI underwriter

DUAL Corporate Risks has appointed Christopher Blake as a professional indemnity underwriter in its Manchester-based national business unit.

The move follows the specialist insurer’s expansion into the information technology sector, with the launch of a dedicated professional indemnity, public liability and products liability offering earlier this year.

According to DUAL, Mr Blake, who moves from Chartis, has built up specific expertise in this niche but growing sector, and already enjoys strong support from brokers in this and other areas of technical underwriting.

Commenting on the appointment, the firm’s underwriting director, Jennifer Martin, says: “Chris is a highly respected and popular professional and his appointment really strengthens our offering in the IT space.”

She adds: “We are excited to have the depth of talent to take forward ambitious growth plans for the national business unit, which is our hub for regional business outside the London Market.”

Last week, DUAL appointed James Bromley-Challenor as national claims manager, in a role that includes managing the day-to-day relationship with law firm Kennedys, which was appointed earlier this year to provide the insurer with extra claims handling capacity.
