International general insurance and reinsurance group Brit Insurance has announced the appointment of Brian Randall as director of the new Energy & Power division.

Randall, whose appointment is effective from 1 October, brings more than two decades of experience in the energy sector, with experience of upstream and downstream business.

He has worked as both a broker and underwriter, and joins Brit from the Watkins syndicate where he worked as a class underwriter and held responsibility for Energy business underwritten in London.

Randall will be tasked with growing the firm’s involvement in the energy secto and ensuring that its service to brokers in the London market and Lloyd’s remains excellent.

He will report directly to Global Markets Portfolio Director John King.

Matthew Wilson, chief executive of the company’s Global Markets strategic business unit, expressed his delight at Randall’s appointment and praised the extensive experience he brings to the firm.
