Admiral gets go-ahead for new Cardiff HQ
Admiral has announced that planning permission has been granted for a new headquarters building for its motor insurance business, in Cardiff.
The insurer currently employs 2,000 people in the city and the new building will allow for staff numbers to rise to 3,000, all on the one site.
The group’s chief executive officer, Henry Engelhardt, comments: “This is great news and very exciting for everyone who works for Admiral Group, and for the city of Cardiff.”
He adds: “We will now work closely with our staff to ensure the new building provides them with a happy, comfortable and stimulating environment.”
Designed by Glenn Howells Architects, the twelve-storey office block will meet the BREEAM “excellent” standard of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency, and have large expanses of glass to allow as much natural daylight as possible onto every floor.
Construction will start in the late summer, with completion due in early 2014.
