Lloyds Banking Group has announced a pair of senior insurance appointments, with Toby Strauss apppinted as group director of Insurance and Rosie Harris becomes MD of General Insurance.

Strauss is presently UK Life chief executive officer for Aviva, prior to which he was chief operating officer for UK Life.

Earlier in his career he worked for Charcol, rising to become managing director, and then JS & P (now Towry) as chief executive.

In his new role Strauss acquires a seat on the Group Executive Committee and will report directly to Group Chief Executive António Horta-Osório.

Harris is presently divisional risk officer of Insurance with Lloyds Banking Group and a member of the Insurance Executive Committee.

She will report directly to Strauss when he joins the firm on 3 October 2011.

Horta-Osório welcomed Strauss and the extensive experience he brings to the firm and expressed his delight at Harris’ promotion.
