Markel UK goes direct for low-premium clients
Markel UK has launched Markel Direct in the first phase of its multi-distribution operating strategy.
The specialist insurer says the new online service is aimed at low-premium clients who may be unattractive to some brokers.
Managing director, Steve Carroll, gives the example of small business customers who buy business insurance in much the same way as they purchase their household or motor policies.
He explains: “While this can make them unattractive to many brokers it is important to us, as a specialist insurer, to maintain our position in each of our core markets’’.
Markel UK is also in the process of enhancing its established on-line broker e-trading system and will be improving its offering to the broking community by adding products and the ability to transact “white label” schemes and facilities.
