Beazley, a leading Lloyd’s market political risks underwriter, has announced the appointment of Chris Parker as head of the terrorism and political violence team.

Parker, whose appointment is effective from today, was formerly managing director of Bowring Marsh Terrorism.

Adrian Lewers, head of Political Risk and Contingency, explained that the team Parker now led was of critical importance, particularly given the recent surge of instability in areas such as the Middle East and North Africa.

Lewers praised Parker’s exceptional experience and expressed his confidence in Parker’s ability to help Beazley develop new means of helping clients address their exposure.

In a related appointment, Andrew Page will join the terrorism team on 1 June, enhancing the firm’s underwriting service to brokers.

Page is formerly of Chaucer, and specialises in war and terrorism risks.
