American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced that it is reorganising its global property casualty business, Chartis, and has appointed Peter D. Hancock as Chartis’ new chief executive officer.

Hancock, presently AIG’s Finance, Risk and Investments executive vice president, replaces Kristian P. Moor, who becomes executive vice chairman of Chartis and will report directly to Hancock.

Chartis will now consist of two major global groups, commercial and consumer, with John Q. Doyle running the global commercial business and Jeffrey L. Hayman running the global consumer business.

Doyle and Hayman will assume responsibility for their groups’ overall underwriting and business results and will report directly to Hancock.

AIG President and Chief Executive Officer Robert H. Benmosche has said that the new model will drive forward innovation of products and services whilst delivering enhanced performance.
