Lockton MENA has achieved Chartered Broker status from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

The Dubai-based subsidiary is only the third overseas insurance broker to make the Chartered grade, gaining benefits that include client and associate recognition of capability and commitment to ethical practice.

Commenting on the award, CII chief executive officer, Dr Alexander Scott, says: “This announcement offers further evidence that brokers are alive to the benefits of professionalism, both as a driver of competitive advantage and as an important means of building confidence and trust in the insurance sector.”

Lockton MENA chief executive officer, Wael Khatib, adds: “We are delighted to have achieved such an important milestone just six months after receiving a license from the Dubai Financial Services Authority.”

Earlier this year, Lockton announced that the China Insurance Regulatory Commission had approved plans for the group to open a new office in Beijing, where the firm plans to offer a broad range of specialist insurance and reinsurance services.
