Global risk and reinsurance firm Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC has won an award for its thought leadership and innovative research in enterprise risk management (ERM).

The Joint Risk Management Section of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Canadian Institute of Actuaries and Society of Actuaries, gave the 2011 Award for Practical Risk Management Applications, which Guy Carpenter, working in collaboration with Risk Lighthouse LLC, received the 2011 ERM Symposium.

Entitled U.S. Property-Casualty: Underwriting Cycle Modeling and Risk
Benchmarks, the award-winning paper featured an in-depth study of the US property-casualty insurance industry.

The paper included an analysis of the historical underwriting cycle, and a new regime-switching model as an alternative to the autoregressive approach.

Guy Carpenter’s head of Global Advisory Don Mango expressed the firm’s delight at receiving the award, and stated that the risk benchmarks and underwriting cycle models included in the paper could be used by firms for their own risk analysis and enterprise risk management modelling.
