Cooper Gay has appointed Jeremy Austen as head of broking at its Singapore office.
Reporting to Asia Pacific regional managing director, Stephen Britten, Mr Austen will focus on business development throughout the region, having joined from Talbot Asia, where he held the post of principal underwriting officer of the Lloyd’s syndicate.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr Britten says: “The Asia Pacific market is a primary focus for Cooper Gay and we have plans to grow our local presence considerably in order to support our expanding client portfolio.”
Established as a general reinsurance broker in 1996, Cooper Gay’s Asia Pacific operations now include subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Australia and China, with a 30-strong team handling all classes of facultative and treaty reinsurance, spanning property, energy (onshore and offshore), general liability, financial lines and marine.
Earlier this month, the group launched Cooper Gay European Markets, an integrated trading unit which aims to provide a “timely and balanced” service for clients’ risk protection needs.
The firm says the move will pool the talent of its experts in Hamburg, Paris and London to cover a wide range of property, terrorism, liability and reinsurance risks.
