Beazley extends global environmental practice

Beazley is establishing an environmental risks underwriting capability at Lloyd’s, which will be headed by Nicholas Pearson, a senior member of the specialist insurer’s global environmental risks team.

Mr Pearson has over a decade of experience in the sector, as both a consultant and an underwriter, and in his new role will focus on fixed-site environmental liability (operational and transactional), plus pollution liability business for contractors and service firms.

The group, which established a Philadelphia-based underwriting team to focus on environmental risks only a year ago, says the expansion into Lloyd’s is the natural next step in the development of its global environmental offering.

Beazley’s head of specialty lines division, Adrian Cox, comments: “Many of the large clients we insure at Lloyd’s for commercial property and for architects’ and engineers’ professional liability risks confront significant environmental exposures, which we can now cover from the Beazley box at Lloyd’s.”
