Global insurer RSA has announced the appointment of Stuart Purdy as chief executive officer for the Asia & Middle East region (AME).

Purdy brings in excess of a quarter of a century of experience to his new position with RSA, and during his lengthy career has worked both in the UK and in Asia.

Presently, he works for Aviva Europe and Middle East as director of Products and Investment with responsibility for Aviva’s pan-European investment, reinsurance and insurance carriers.

He will join RSA in May, succeeding Jon Hancock who has occupied the position of interim AME chief executive officer since March 2010.

Emerging Markets CEO Paul Whittaker welcomed Purdy’s appointment, and praised his proven track record of delivering growth and business results.
