The National Skills Academy for Financial Services (NSAFS) is preparing for the launch of a Diploma in Investment Planning.

“Experience Counts” is a work-based assessment that meets the full qualification requirements of the Financial Services Authority’s Retail Distribution Review proposals.

Available from February, will be awarded by the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland, which has been working closely with the Academy and its training partner, CTP, to ensure that the new qualification provides a “robust” assessment of a financial adviser’s competence, without the need for traditional written examinations.

NSAFS chief executive officer, Sylvia Perrins says the new assessment methodology allows the industry meets the needs of all its employees.
