Insurance broker Lockton has announced that it has been granted the regulatory green light from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC), enabling it to open a new branch office in Beijing.

Alex Jiang will lead the new Chinese office, and he will be supported by a number of associates in January.

Jiang joined Lockton in March of last year and supervised the firm’s Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise licence application process for the new office.

He previously worked for HSBC Insurance Brokers as assistant general manager and head of Financial Risks Practice and Corporate Business Practice in Northern China.

Jiang will report directly to Gerry Callaghan, chief executive officer and president for Greater China.

The Beijing branch office will offer a broad range of specialist insurance and reinsurance services as well as risk management expertise.
