Aon Benfield appoints head of facultative China

Aon Benfield has appointed Jing Ping Zhang as head of facultative for the firm’s China operations.

Mr Zhang will be responsible for building the facultative team, driving strategy and business production, and expanding the reinsurer’s facultative footprint within the Chinese market.

Having joined the group in 2002, he has spent the last two years based in Singapore as part of the production and placement team of Aon Benfield Fac, having previously spent six years working for Aon Re and Aon Specialty, in London.

Prior to joining the group, he was employed in the Chinese government economic and trade service sector.

In taking up the new post, Mr Zhang will relocate to Hong Kong (from 1st January 2011) with a view to ultimately moving to Beijing.

Aon Benfield APAC chief executive officer, Malcolm Steingold, comments: “We look forward to Jing Ping joining the China team as we continue to expand our capabilities in the country and across Asia.”

Last month, the Aon appointed its chief financial offer, Maggie Westdale, as global chief operating officer, in addition to her existing role.
