BMS appoints US specialty casualty leader
BMS has announced that it has appointed Theresa Schugel as an executive vice president with a brief to lead the expansion of the group’s global Specialty Casualty Practice.
The Practice provides medical professional liability, lawyers’ professional liability, workers compensation, D&O and other general liability classes.
Ms Schugel has spent the last four years heading Aon Benfield’s Global Healthcare and Lawyers’ Professional Liability Practice, in addition to her role as global team leader on specific accounts.
Prior to joining the group, she worked for The St Paul for fourteen years, primarily within their Medical Services Division, and as the ceded reinsurance buyer for all lines.
Commenting on the appointment, BMS chief executive officer, Carl Beardmore, describes Ms Schugel as “one of the most influential practitioners in her field” and says he is confidence that she and will drive the company’s continued expansion in the US.
