Ageas and BIBA promote winter weather precautions

Ageas (previously Fortis) and the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) are once again urging homeowners and businesses to beware the oncoming winter weather, following on from last year’s winter weather health check campaign.

The prolonged and severe winter weather last year saw a 21.2% rise in payouts with estimates of the number of homes adversely affected as high as 2 million.

The new campaign provides brokers with downloadable factsheets designed to help customers take precautionary measures now to head off any potential future troubles.

Ageas Insurance Managing Director Mark Cliff explained that last winter saw severe disruption to businesses and households due to the extended freezing conditions.

Cliff added that Ageas’ goal was to help brokers encourage their customers to take preventative steps now to prepare for the worst should it happen.

Earlier this month Legal & General offered tips to homeowners on how to beat the winter weather, including keeping the heating on to prevent burst pipes and the subsequent hefty bills that would follow.
