International insurance and reinsurance underwriting group Kiln has announced the appointment of Ian Brimecome to the post of chairman of Kiln Group.

In addition, the firm announced that Paul Hewitt has been made the new chairman or R J Kiln and Co.

The appointments follow the decision by Edward Creasy to step down from the firm after a successful 11 year period with Kiln, effective from 1 January 2011.

Brimecome has worked for R J Kiln as a non-executive director since 2008 and has acquired broad experience of the financial services industry during the more than three decades he has worked in it.

He serves as chairman of Equitable Life and Bluefin Group, executive chairman of financial institutions for Macquarie Capital in Europe and Japan and is also a non-executive director of Axa UK, Philadelphia Consolidated and Edelweiss Tokio Life.

Hewitt has served as a non-executive director of R J Kiln since 2007 and is chairman of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.

Charles Franks, R J Kiln CEO, thanked Creasy for his contribution to the firm during the last decade and wished him all the best for the future.
