Groupama Insurances has created a dedicated business underwriting team for London and the South.

Three underwriters have been appointed: Therese Crowhurst, Steve Scrimgeour and Darren Carter, and all are reporting to Dawn Dillaway, the group’s head of commercial underwriting.

Therese Crowhurst and Steve Scrimgeour will focus on non-motor SME commercial business, having worked for Groupama for three years and acquired valuable knowledge of schemes business.

Darren Carter has joined the firm from AIG with a reputation as a highly skilled fleet underwriter.

Commenting on the appointments, Dawn Dillaway says: “Our team has the skills and authority to really help our supporting brokers take maximum advantage of the valuable new SME business opportunities that they produce.”

Separately, Groupama is calling for greater collaboration from insurers on Travel CUE, an initiative led by the Insurance Fraud Bureau and IDSL/Polaris to clamp down on fraudulent travel insurance claims.

Responding to reports that some insurers have decided to “go it alone” and create their own databases of suspect claims, Groupama’s counter fraud manager, Andy Pagett, is calling on firms to put their weight behind Travel CUE and create an industry-wide solution.
