Markel International has acquired bloodstock and livestock renewal rights from Talbot Underwriting.
The move is being accompanied by the arrival of Sophie Dunkerley and Alex Colquhoun who will be transferring from Talbot to handle the business.
Markel has been providing equine products across the US for more than 40 years and has recently been focused on international expansion.
In July, the group acquired French insurance broker and cover holder, Le Centaure, and in August, it acquired American Live Stock.
President and chief operating officer, William Stovin, comments: “Markel’s bloodstock and livestock business has significantly expanded this year, and the growth underlines our commitment to build a global book in this sector.”
The firm’s London-based division writes its bloodstock and livestock business (which includes land and aquatic life), through Markel Syndicate 3000.
