The Insurance Charities has named Kirsten Watson, key account manager at Crawford and Company, as President for the forthcoming year.

The body, which was established in 1902, acts as a charity for the UK and Republic of Ireland’s insurance industries, giving financial and practical support to past and present employees and their dependent relatives.

Last year, it provided over £1 million in financial help and gave advice to almost 550 families.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Watson says: “I want to use my year as President to make the Charities ever more widely known in the insurance industry, especially in the service provider’s community I am involved with.”

She adds: “In these times of economic difficulty, it is vital that the message of what we deliver is known to those who might benefit from our help as well as insurance employers who can in turn support us by way of donations.”
